Status, August 27, 2026. The ledger below is a schedule. Entries are written before their week and gain a result when the work runs. The only entry with a result today is the spike that opened the program.
Nothing on this page claims hardware, clients, revenue or a field program that does not exist. A week that fails publishes as a failed week. That is the deliverable.
What the program builds toward
The assay head, from the bench up
The machine on the front page is a specification. The part of it that decides what the ground is, the assay head, is the part worth building first, and most of it can be built on a bench: real sensors over real rock, an edge computer deciding on the machine, every reading durable in the record layer that has already run. Steel that needs a machine shop gets a machine shop. The carrier and the drill stay on paper this year.

The spike
A mock spectrometer and a deliberately trivial detector behind the record layer. 31 checks green on two runtime paths and two architectures, 52 ms median spectrum to durable on a Raspberry Pi 5, uplink cut mid-run with zero loss, zero gaps, zero duplicates. The full result.
Result: ran. The mock retires here. Nothing after this entry uses a simulated instrument as its deliverable.

Real photons
An 18-channel spectral sensor, 410 to 940 nm, replaces the mock behind the same scaffold and the same gates. Real rock and mineral specimens, a broadband halogen source, a PTFE white reference, reflectance out. Deliverable: the spectra and the capture protocol, published, with every verify check green in both modes.

The stage
A rigid capture stage, fabricated: fixed camera geometry, controlled high-CRI light, macro optics, longwave UV excitation, a dark enclosure. Deliverable: the stage, and the first co-registered records, image plus spectrum plus fluorescence response per specimen, in one event stream.

The library
Every specimen on hand measured under the fixed protocol, labeled. Deliverable: the dataset, published in full. Images, spectra, labels, and the protocol that made them.

The edge decides
An on-device classifier over the library, open weights, trained and run on a Jetson Orin Nano inside its power envelope. Deliverable: the confusion matrix, the latency and the watts, published. The claim stops where the bench stops: these specimens, this geometry.

Fluorescence as a channel
Longwave UV response folded into the protocol as a measured channel. Deliverable: where it separates minerals the reflectance channels cannot, and where it does nothing, both on the record.

Repeatability, or it is not an instrument
The same specimens, re-seated and re-measured across days. Deliverable: per-channel stability, and drift detection wired into the record layer so the rig catches its own drift before an operator would.

Outside
The rig leaves the bench: battery power, outdoor light, October temperatures, the uplink cut for real. Deliverable: the power and thermal envelope, and the record layer's behavior on a physical rig rather than a mock.

The readout
Eight weeks in one report: what a bench assay head can and cannot say about rock, the distance from here to core in a hole, and the next eight weeks. Deliverable: the report, and the decision that follows it, on the record.

Written before the week, scored after. A failed week publishes as a failed week. No entry claims what has not run. Money follows research: a part is bought when the plan for it survives its own checks, not before.
The program's horizon is AME Roundup, Vancouver, January 25 to 28, 2027. It walks in with whatever is real by then.
